How wonderful to hear from
you and the crew of the H.M.S.Reunion. What a distinguished representation of
West Carrollton's finest, and I'll bet Randy Hull still looks like he's 20.
Disgusting! I was amused by your landlubber expressions with a nautical flavor,
however, as a partial investor in both AmericaOne's and AmericaTrue's failed
attempts to wrest the America's Cup from the Kiwis, my San Francisco Bay fog
remains awash the foredeck. I decided to respond via e-mail, rather than
snail-mail, to show that I, too, have entered into the new millennium; either
that, or I'm too cheap to use a 33 cent stamp! First off, I'm afraid I won't be
attending this summer's gathering. My alumni activities somehow have gravitated
to 10-year centers. I was in the vicinity of the 10th year reunion, even though
drunken rowdiness preempted attendance (ah, the immaturity of youth). I did
attend the 20th year reunion, even though the passing of my mother was the
primary consideration. Finally, properly planned and executed, I attended the
30th year reunion, only to have my daughter (there with my granddaughter)
decide she was homesick for my (now) son-in-law, and we had to be at Dayton
Airport at 6 o'clock in the morning! As a side note (Carol Foltz, you may
remember this), I had difficulty with the heat at that day's alumni golf
tourney. That turned out to be the forerunner of a bigger problem, and a month
later I had emergency heart surgery. I'm fine now, and even though I gained
about 40 lbs. when I quit smoking, I've had my meeting with God, and I think
it's in His plans for me to attend the 40th AND the 50th reunions. We'll see
what adventures await those events. So Steve, those are my plans, and I would love
to donate to the cause for decorations or whatever, even though I won't be
attending. I look forward to hearing from you, and I would love to get a group
photo of those attending the festivities. No Spouse (I learned my lesson after
losing my second elevator!) Two daughters: Amanda Weller 25 (2 granddaughters, Avery
6 and Allison 1) and Marissa Rohn 22. Occupation: Satellite Operations for
Lockheed-Martin Technical Operations Co. e-mail: grrohn@hotmail.com and Yes, OK to Publish (as far as I know,
I'm not running from any of you -YET!) I'm afraid I don't get that many
classmates visiting Silicon Valley, or if they do, I guess they'd rather I not
know, and thus, I can't be of much help in the locator department. But, to all
my fellow Pirate mates:
G'Day and No Worries.
Gary.
